Making your own MST3k cover
- Download a template
I have made both Joel and Mike templates. Preview the Joel and Mike templates.
- Find the fonts
The fonts I use are Romic (white), Amelie (yellow), Mirisch/Estro (black) and Motter Corpus (orange). They are commercial fonts so I can not offer them for download here.
- Find a good screen cap for the front
You don't need to fill the entire front of the cover, you can just grab a couple of the "stars" and crop them like on the Manos cover.
- Find quotes from the episode that apply to the picture
This step is rather hard so feel free to be like Rhino and make up a quote if you can't find a good enough quote
- Write up a mini review/blurb for the back
This can be easy, just write a paragraph about how bad the movie is and maybe talk about a host segment. After the two paragraphs, put the episode number and the runtime and if it is color or black and white. The first paragraph is as follows:
It's Mystery Science Theater 3000, America's only show that makes fun of really bad B-movies from the comfort of a spaceship floating above Earth. [Joel Hodgson|Mike Nelson], along with his mechanical companions, wisecracking Crow and well-read chick magnet Tom Servo, make suffering through Hollywood's worst films a breeze. Adding their own dialog, barrage of witty remarks and an occasional colorful skit, the next hour and a half will fly by like it were only 90 minutes. There's no ushers with flashlights, crying babies or women with big hair to spoil the fun.
- Plug and chunk
Now take those and plug them into the template along with the title and the names of a few of the stars. I have put guides on the template to show you where, don't worry, they won't show up when you print. Also, underneath the title on the front put the following line:
Join [Joel Hodgson|Mike Nelson], Tom Servo and Crow on The Satellite of Love!
- Add DAP/Rhino Logos
If you are making a cover for a DAP encoded episode, here is their logo for the back.
If you are making a cover for an episode released by Rhino, here is there logo for the spine and the back.
- You're done!
Upload your cover site to my FTP to have it added! The address is dq5.no-ip.info and the login info is mst3k/upload
